About Michael

Michael Silva is DWF Canada's British Columbia Managing Partner, based in Vancouver. Called to the British Columbia Bar in 2003 and the Alberta Bar in 2026, he holds an LL.B. from Queen's University and a B.A. in History and Psychology from the University of British Columbia. He joined the firm in 2003 and made partner in 2009, focusing on general litigation with an emphasis on transportation matters, and co-leads the firm's Marine & Transportation, Road Maintenance and Subrogation practice groups. He has appeared before the BC Provincial and Supreme Courts, the BC Court of Appeal, the Federal Court and various administrative tribunals, handling vessel collisions, cargo claims, aviation incidents and construction disputes, and also provides solicitor services including contract drafting and regulatory work for marine and trucking clients.
