About Michael
Michael Canning is a partner at Beard Winter with more than 30 years of experience in insurance defence litigation. His practice spans bodily injury, products liability, construction deficiency, property and fire losses, and professional liability. In recent years he has focused increasingly on life and health claims, particularly long-term and short-term disability, along with critical illness, life, health, and travel insurance for individual, group, and administrative-services-only claims. He now heads the firm's Life and Health team and also works as a mediator, drawing on his litigation and settlement experience across these practice areas. Michael was called to the bar in 1987 and holds an LL.B. from the University of Windsor and a B.A. (Hons.) from the University of Toronto.
