Mike Prsa chairs the Wills, Trusts & Estates Group at Lawrences and has focused exclusively on trusts and estates work since 2002. Earlier in his career he practised litigation, handling a wide range of family law and estate disputes, a background that helps him assist clients from blended families or those who have gone through multiple marriages. He has guided many families through crises involving sudden death or incapacity, and other lawyers, accountants and financial advisors regularly refer high net worth individuals and business executives to him for estate planning. His drafting experience includes single and dual wills, insurance trusts, spousal trusts, inter vivos and testamentary trusts, and powers of attorney. Working alongside tax professionals, Mike designs plans that help clients defer or avoid capital gains tax on death, claim capital gains exemptions, or create income-splitting opportunities, and he partners with the firm's Business Law Group to help business owners, including medical professionals, transfer personal and business assets efficiently.
