Administrative & Regulatory LawMelanie Gillis is a partner in McInnes Cooper's Halifax office, where she practises litigation with a focus on construction and energy matters. She has litigated complex commercial and construction disputes, including claims under builders' lien legislation, and has appeared before all levels of court in Nova Scotia as well as the Federal Court. She also represents clients before the Nova Scotia Energy Board, the Nova Scotia Regulatory and Appeals Board, and the Canada Energy Regulator, advising on energy policy, environmental regulation, and renewable energy projects. Melanie co-chairs the Environmental section of the firm's ESG Working Group and has published articles in the Journal of the Canadian College of Construction Lawyers and Energy Regulation Quarterly. She earned a B.A. in Political Science and Sustainability from Dalhousie University in 2013 and a J.D. from the Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University in 2016, and was called to the Nova Scotia bar in 2017.
