About Melanie
Melanie McNaught is a partner whose practice covers most areas of labour and employment law, with particular focus on civil litigation, education law, privacy, and human rights. She has appeared before every level of court, plus labour arbitrators and tribunals such as the Ontario Labour Relations Board and the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario. She regularly advises employers on human rights issues, including the duty to accommodate, and on terminations, severance, and wrongful dismissal. Much of her work involves advising school boards on labour, human rights, and education law matters, drawing on detailed knowledge of the Education Act. She sits on the executive of the Ontario Bar Association's Education Law Section and clerked at the Court of Appeal for Ontario before entering practice. She holds a law degree from the University of Victoria and a journalism degree from Carleton University and was called to the Ontario bar in 2003.
