About Matthew

Matt Hayes is a Board member and partner in McInnes Cooper's Saint John office, advising clients on construction, environmental and insurance disputes. He has handled complex, multi-party litigation, arbitration and mediation, and appears regularly before courts and tribunals including the Energy and Utilities Board and the Canadian International Trade Tribunal. Before practising law, Matt earned a mechanical engineering degree and worked as a professional engineer, later serving as president of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of New Brunswick. He was called to the New Brunswick bar in 1997 after earning his LL.B. from the University of New Brunswick. He has chaired the Canadian Bar Association's National Construction Law Section and is a Fellow of the Canadian College of Construction Lawyers.
