About Matthew

Matt Dorreen is a partner with Cox & Palmer and chairs the firm's Halifax Real Property practice group. His practice covers environmental and natural resources law, commercial real estate, and commercial financing. He advises proponents, purchasers, vendors, and lenders on environmental permitting and licensing for large infrastructure projects, including mines, public utility projects, wind farms, and fisheries, and has acted for mining producers and exploration companies on title due diligence, land assembly, and royalty and joint venture agreements. In his real estate practice, Matt advises institutional clients, REITs, and developers on acquisitions, dispositions, and property development, and negotiates commercial leases for landlords and tenants. He earned his LLB from Dalhousie University in 2008 and a Certificate in Mining Law from Osgoode Hall Law School in 2013, and was called to the Nova Scotia Bar in 2009.
