About Gillian

Gillian is a partner and co-head of the firm's securities defence practice, with a litigation practice that spans securities matters and corporate disputes. She frequently represents participants in the capital markets on securities class actions, claims involving professional liability, and investigations brought by regulators such as IIROC, the MFDA, and the OSC. Alongside that regulatory work, she counsels financial institutions facing investigations tied to consumer protection issues. She also runs an active commercial litigation practice, acting for corporations in disputed transactions, shareholder disagreements, breach of contract claims, and related business tort matters, and has appeared before every level of court in Ontario, along with the Federal Court and Federal Court of Appeal, plus the Yukon Court of Appeal. Before joining the firm, she worked as senior in-house counsel at a Canadian financial institution. She currently sits on the steering committee for the OSC's program that offers free legal help to unrepresented respondents in OSC administrative proceedings.
