About Matt McMahon

Matt McMahon chairs the Construction Law practice group at SV Law and works out of the Guelph office. McMahon's construction clients have included owners and contractors as well as consultants and insurers, and the work scales from a small residential renovation right up to complex projects worth millions of dollars.

Litigation sits at the core of the practice. McMahon brings extensive trial and advocacy experience and regularly appears in the Superior Court of Justice, the Divisional Court and the Court of Appeal of Ontario. Alongside the construction files, there's a deep bench of experience with complex property insurance disputes of every type.

McMahon was called to the bar in 2017, a year after finishing a J.D. at the University of Saskatchewan, and an undergraduate degree from the University of Guelph came before that. In 2024 the construction focus got formal backing with a Certificate in Construction Law from Osgoode Hall Law School.

Closer to home, McMahon serves as a director of both the Wellington Law Association and the Grand Highlands Home Builders' Association, and once sat on the Big Brothers Big Sisters Guelph Golf Fore Kids Committee. Away from work, time goes to three young kids, family and the dogs.
