About Mary
Mary Ann MacKenzie is associate counsel who has practised exclusively in civil litigation, primarily insurance defence, for over 30 years in British Columbia. She grew up in Victoria, studied and began practising in Vancouver and Ottawa, and returned home in 1995. MacKenzie earned an LL.B. from the University of Ottawa (1991) and was called to the Ontario and British Columbia bars in 1993. She first joined Carfra Lawton in 1995 as an associate, later becoming a partner, then ran her own firms for nearly 20 years before returning to Carfra Lawton as associate counsel in 2025, and has appeared before the Supreme Court of Canada.
