About Marian
Marian Black was born and raised in County Donegal, Ireland, where she was elected Law Society President and Student Union President during law school. She emigrated to Canada in 2014, initially practising criminal defence after articling with Evans Fagan Rice McKay, before moving into civil litigation, where she has built a strong reputation in medical malpractice, personal injury, and disability law. Marian negotiates and litigates compensation for injured clients and describes her approach as fighting for clients the way she would for her own child. She holds a BA (Hons) from Letterkenny Institute of Technology in Ireland and an LL.M. in International Economic Law from the University of Strathclyde in Scotland, and was called to the Alberta bar in 2017. She is a member of the Calgary Bar Association, the Canadian Bar Association, the Alberta Civil Trial Lawyers Association, and the Association of Women Lawyers.
