Lorenzo Bonera is a partner in Gowling WLG's Ottawa office, where the work sits in the Real Estate and Business Law Group. Commercial property deals, secured lending and commercial leases are the heart of the practice, and Bonera both negotiates them and advises clients along the way. Institutional and private lenders have retained the partner on secured real estate and commercial loans. Private clients have also turned to Bonera on asset and share transactions.

Bonera has strong ties to Italy. Bonera lived there before moving to Canada and earned a Bachelor of Laws at Bocconi University in Milan, then came to the University of Toronto for an LL.M., picking up a fellowship in capital markets and a junior fellowship at Massey College. That Italian legal grounding now shapes a cross-border practice between the two countries, covering the management and disposition of assets and the administration of estates that cross borders. Called to the Ontario bar in 2015, Bonera spent the early years at an Ottawa firm whose focus was residential and commercial property, private lending and corporate work, and later joined Gowling WLG. Away from client files, the partner sits on the executive committee of the National Congress of Italian Canadians (National Chapter), serves on the board of Serendipity Group and has helped plan for the Wateridge Village Community Association. Bonera works in English and Italian.
