About Lisa
Lisa Harris joined Woodward & Company in 2024 to support Indigenous communities' use of the colonial legal system to uphold their rights. Their practice areas include Aboriginal and treaty rights, consultation and accommodation, employment and human rights, First Nation constitutions, laws and policy, governance support, housing, Indigenous legal orders, land interests, land use planning, natural resources, regulatory processes, and strategic reconciliation planning. They represented the Cowichan Nation in Cowichan Tribes et al v Canada (2025), successfully ensuring recognition of Aboriginal title for Tl'uqtinus village lands and an Aboriginal right to fish. Lisa Harris holds a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in ecology and aquatic ecology, both from the University of Guelph, where they received the Associate Vice President Teaching Assistant Award of Excellence, and a JD from the University of Victoria concentrating in environmental law and sustainability. Lisa Harris grew up on the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation territory and was called to the Law Society of British Columbia and the Law Society of the Northwest Territories in 2024.
