Sonya Pighin is a lawyer and co-founder of Kina Law, and a member of Lheidli T'enneh First Nation, belonging to the Gitdumden (Bear/Wolf) Clan of the Wet'suwet'en Peoples. Since 2007 she has focused on Aboriginal, administrative, constitutional, and human rights law, acting as in-house counsel for various First Nations and helping over 30 Indigenous communities improve their governance and develop their own laws. She served on the BC Human Rights Tribunal from 2021 to 2025, and in 2026 became an adjudicator at the Law Society of BC Tribunal and a member of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC Investigations Committee. Sonya holds a Master of Laws in Constitutional Law from York University, a Juris Doctor from the University of Victoria, and a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology from Vancouver Island University.
