About Jonathan L. Dye

Jonathan Dye is an employment lawyer in Hamilton and a partner at Filion Wakely Thorup Angeletti LLP. Jonathan both litigates and advises, so the work runs from contested cases to the everyday questions that come with running a workforce.

Jonathan was called to the Ontario bar in 1997 and has been at Filion Wakely since October 2013. As lead counsel, Jonathan has appeared in the Superior Court of Justice, the Divisional Court and the Ontario Court of Appeal, and before the Human Rights Tribunal, the Labour Relations Board and the Workplace Safety and Insurance Appeals Tribunal.

Jonathan has taught and written as well. Students at York's Schulich School of Business and Toronto Metropolitan University have had Jonathan as a guest instructor, and HR professionals working toward the CHRP designation have taken Jonathan's employment law course at Humber College. Jonathan has also chaired and spoken at many conferences on employment law and human rights at work, for lawyers and business people alike, and has written dozens of articles for legal and industry journals.

Jonathan has talked about workplace issues on CTV and has been quoted in The Globe and Mail's Report on Business, the Financial Post and Canadian Business Magazine. In a January 2025 Law Times story on Ontario's new rules capping advertised pay ranges at $50,000, Jonathan argued the limit could matter well beyond what employers are allowed to print in a job ad.
