About Jon
Jon Doody has been with Bayne Sellar Ertel Macrae since 2011, starting as a summer student, and was called to the bar in 2014. He defends clients facing charges including impaired driving, assault, sexual assault, firearms offences, murder and terrorism, and appears before the Ontario Court of Justice, Superior Court of Justice, the Court of Appeal and military courts martial. He has particular expertise reviewing and challenging search warrants and the Informations to Obtain used to secure them, and in defending impaired-by-drug charges involving Standardized Field Sobriety Testing and Drug Recognition Experts. He is currently treasurer of the Defence Counsel Association of Ottawa and a member of the Criminal Lawyers Association. He completed an Honours degree in History and Film at Queen's University before earning his J.D. from the University of Windsor in 2013, during which he worked at the Community Legal Clinic in Windsor and clerked for Justice Dean of the Superior Court.
