About John

John S. Heaney is Associate Counsel of Reed Pope, practising in the firm's Dispute Resolution and Business Law groups. He helps clients identify and resolve disputes cost-effectively through negotiation, mediation, arbitration, and administrative proceedings, and before all levels of BC's trial and appeal courts, working on corporate and commercial disputes including shareholder, construction, commercial lease, labour, employment, and wills and estates matters. He also advises on incorporation, governance, and equity financing. Before joining Reed Pope he practised with a national law firm in Vancouver and Victoria and a boutique litigation firm, including as advisor to a First Nations school board and health authority, and spent over a decade as a senior executive and advisor in two provincial governments. He was called to the British Columbia Bar in 2007 and holds an LLB from the University of Victoria (2006).
