About John

John is a Partner in McInnes Cooper's Halifax office and leads the firm's Corporate Business Unit while co-chairing its Cross-Border Group. He advises small and large private companies, private equity funds, venture capital funds and lenders on a wide range of corporate transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, cross-border deals, venture capital and bank financings, and general corporate governance matters. Before joining McInnes Cooper in 2008, he practiced for 12 years at firms in Ontario and California and served as General Counsel for a NASDAQ-listed software company and for the Irving Group in Moncton. He is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Nova Scotia Barristers' Society, the Law Society of New Brunswick, the Law Society of Ontario and the State Bar of California. John holds a B.Comm., M.B.A. and LL.B., all from Dalhousie University, and is a Certified Management Accountant.
