About John
John M. Gordon, KC is associate counsel at Martland & Saulnier, which he joined in early 2023 following a long career as Crown counsel specializing in criminal appeals. A 1980 graduate of the UBC Faculty of Law, he was called to the bar in 1981 and, apart from a five-year period as a sole practitioner from 1988 to 1993, spent most of his career as Crown counsel, joining the Crown's Criminal Appeals Office in 1993. He appeared as appellate counsel in high-profile cases including R. v. Sharpe, R. v. Ellard, and the Pickton and Surrey Six prosecutions, and served as deputy director of the Criminal Appeals division of the Crown's Criminal Appeals and Special Prosecutions Office starting in 2000. He was appointed Queen's Counsel in 2005.
