About Brock
Brock Martland, KC is a senior criminal lawyer at Martland & Saulnier, handling trials and appeals primarily for the defence but occasionally for the Crown. He is a graduate of Queen's University and the University of Victoria, clerked for Justice John Major at the Supreme Court of Canada, and articled with the Vancouver Crown Counsel office before joining the predecessor firm Smart & Williams in 2001. He has acted as defence counsel in high-profile cases including the Surrey Six murder trial, the Air India bombing prosecution, and the Jake Virtanen sexual assault trial, and served as senior commission counsel for the Cullen Commission into money laundering in BC, as well as associate commission counsel for the Frank Paul Inquiry and the Cohen Commission on Fraser River sockeye salmon. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, was appointed Queen's Counsel in 2018, and speaks English and French.
