John F. Rook, KC, is a senior litigation counsel with more than 50 years of practice across administrative, commercial, and competition law, and he has appeared before courts at the provincial and federal level, including the Supreme Court of Canada, as well as before tribunals such as the Competition Tribunal, the CRTC, and the National Energy Board. He has been recognized by Chambers Global as a leading competition litigator and by Best Lawyers for his work in class action, competition/antitrust, and corporate and commercial litigation. His litigation history spans major merger reviews, abuse-of-dominance allegations, cartel matters, and Competition Act class proceedings, including acting for Videotron on its purchase of Freedom Mobile and advising the Commissioner of Competition regarding the Labatt-Lakeport Brewing merger, along with broader work in energy, telecommunications, securities, product liability, negligence, and fiduciary-duty matters. He holds a Fellowship with the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, and has held board roles with St. Andrews' College, the University Club of Toronto as president, and the Stratford Shakespeare Festival and its foundation.
