John E. S. Poyser is a Senior Litigation Lawyer with WEL Partners who has practised law since 1987, limiting his work over the last two decades to disputes arising from gifts, wills, trusts and other wealth transfers. He was called to the Ontario bar in 2016 and is also licensed in Alberta and Manitoba, where his Ontario practice focuses on estate litigation and consulting other firms on related cases. John is a past chair of the CBA's Wills, Estates and Trusts Section and a past Deputy Chair of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners, having also served on STEP's Worldwide Council. He wrote Capacity and Undue Influence, an eight-hundred-page text on challenging transfers of wealth, and co-authored ten editions of The Taxation of Trusts. He founded The National Concordance, a national compendium of succession law.
