About Jessica

Jessica Chan is an associate in Torkin Manes' Corporate/Commercial Group, whose work centers on private equity deals, corporate reorganizations, and both acquisitions and dispositions, as well as strategic commercial arrangements more broadly. She works with companies on corporate, operational, and governance matters, including shareholders agreements, limited partnership agreements, and other commercial contracts, guiding clients through transactions from start to finish. Before turning to corporate law, Jessica worked as a litigator and real estate lawyer, experience she now brings to structuring deals and resolving disputes. She earned a Masters of Publishing from Simon Fraser University and spent seven years as Editor-in-Chief of a national magazine, giving her particular insight into the media, publishing, and creative industries she now advises. She was called to the bar in both Ontario and Nova Scotia in 2009 and holds a JD from Dalhousie University. She speaks Mandarin and Taiwanese in addition to English.
