About Jeff

Jeff Pniowsky is a partner at TDS whose practice centers on tax litigation and dispute resolution, tax audits and appeals, tax advisory work, and complex commercial litigation. He spent close to ten years as a senior tax litigator with the Federal Department of Justice, acting for the Canada Revenue Agency, before moving into private practice. His work has included challenges to complex tax avoidance transactions, international taxation issues, and the interpretation of tax treaties, and he has argued cases at every level of court, including the Supreme Court of Canada. He advised the CRA's Aggressive Tax Planning Division on some of the most significant tax matters in the Prairie region and sat on the National Tax Avoidance Committee for Justice Canada. Jeff also has extensive experience with tax enforcement, regulatory compliance, and solicitor-client privilege issues related to documentary disclosure. He holds an LLB from the University of Manitoba (1994) and an MBA from Case Western Reserve University (1999), and was called to the bar in 1995.
