About Katherine

Katherine L. Bueti was called to the Manitoba Bar in 2000 after beginning her legal career as a summer student with Gindin Wolson Simmonds in 1998, where she articled and later worked as a senior associate. In 2009 she left to help found what became Bueti Wasyliw Wiebe before joining Simmonds and Associates. Her practice focuses on criminal defence, spanning charges from traffic offences to first-degree murder, and she has appeared at all levels of court in Canada, including a Supreme Court of Canada hearing held outside Ottawa. She also practises administrative law and civil litigation, appearing before tribunals such as the Licence Suspension Appeal Board, and previously practised immigration law before the Immigration and Refugee Protection Division. Bueti serves as Independent Counsel for the Manitoba Prosecutions Service and as a part-time Deputy Chief Commissioner for the Residential Tenancies Commission. She spent eight years in the Communications Branch of the Canadian Armed Forces before attending law school and is a Life Bencher and past president of the Law Society of Manitoba.
