About Jason
Jason Hicks is a senior business lawyer and co-managing partner of Bernard LLP, advising local, national and international clients on contract, transaction and strategic business matters with an emphasis on the marine industry and major infrastructure projects. In the marine sector he drafts and negotiates vessel construction, charterparty, cargo terminal and moorage agreements, and advises on Coasting Trade Act licences and marine infrastructure development. He has advised on more than twenty major infrastructure projects across Canada, the US and elsewhere under P3, design-build and EPC models, and more broadly advises on business purchases and sales, shareholder agreements and Indigenous business arrangements. He joined Bernard LLP in 2017 after in-house roles at the Vancouver International Airport Authority, SNC-Lavalin and Pacific NorthWest LNG. He holds a BA (Hons.) in Political Science and Sociology from Queen's University (1991) and an LL.B. from the University of Victoria (2004), and was called to the BC Bar in 2005.
