About James
James Oliver practises in the firm's Banking and Financial Services group, focusing on secured lending and debt transactions, and advises clients on debt financing as well as broader corporate and commercial matters. Before joining the firm, he served as corporate counsel at Aviva Canada, where he negotiated and managed secured lending and corporate transactions, handled complex commercial agreements, and advised on insurance regulatory matters. He holds a JD from Queen's University, a Master of Science from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and an honours BA from the University of Toronto. He was called to the Ontario bar in 2023.
