About James

James Butler grew up in Kitchener, Ontario and pursued a Bachelor of Knowledge Integration at the University of Waterloo, graduating in 2019 with joint honours in Philosophy and several writing awards. He completed his J.D. at the University of Toronto in 2023 and was called to the Ontario bar in June 2024. James started at Matlow, Miller, Cummins, Thrasher as a student-at-law and now practices as an associate there, focusing on civil litigation, employment law, construction law, corporate disputes and small claims matters. He emphasizes practical solutions that limit risk for clients and sits on the board of the Cambridge Shelter Corporation, working to reduce homelessness in the community.
