About Jack
Jack Jones concentrates on Aboriginal title, Aboriginal treaty rights, governance support, protecting land and resources, and helping Indigenous businesses grow. He represented the Cowichan Nation in Cowichan Tribes et al v Canada (2025 BCSC 1490), ensuring recognition of Aboriginal title for Tl'uqtinus village lands and an Aboriginal right to fish. During articling, he researched municipal jurisdiction over mining at the Environmental Law Centre at UVic, participated in the W̱SÁNEĆ field school, and worked at West Coast Environmental Law on municipal planning, mining, pipeline financing, and regulatory matters. He holds a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies and an Adventure Management Diploma from Thompson Rivers University, and a Juris Doctor with a concentration in environmental law and sustainability from the University of Victoria. He was called to the Law Society of British Columbia in 2023 and the Law Society of the Northwest Territories in 2024, and previously worked in outdoor education at Power to Be and the YMCA-YWCA of Vancouver Island.
