J. Paul M. Harquail, ACIArb, is a partner at Stewart McKelvey practising in insurance, tax, and maritime and transportation law. His clients include insurance and protection and indemnity interests, transportation companies, and corporate and personal taxpayers, and his work covers insurance defence, corporate and personal income tax litigation, and matters involving ship arrests, collisions, cargo loss, and vessel construction and financing. He has acted as correspondent for large multinational shipping interests and P&I clubs on maritime claims and transactional work. Paul earned his LLB from the University of New Brunswick in 1990, with Dean's List standing, along with a D.E.U.P. from the Université de Strasbourg and a BA from the Université d'Ottawa. He was called to the New Brunswick bar in 1991 and has served as Vice President of the Canadian Bar Association's National Maritime Law Section and on the board of the Canadian Maritime Law Association.
