About Ian

Ian is a Partner in McInnes Cooper's Halifax office advising employers across Nova Scotia on the employment relationship, including hiring, discipline and termination, and regularly appears before the Labour Relations Board and the Labour Standards Tribunal. He has a leading practice in education law, representing education sector clients across Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island on governance, labour and employment matters, and acts as chief negotiator and arbitration counsel for major public and private sector employers in Atlantic Canada. He is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the Nova Scotia Barristers' Society and the Canadian Association Counsel to Employer, and is a past President of the Canadian Association Practical Study of Law in Education. Ian received CPHR Nova Scotia's Collaborative Counsel Award in 2023 and has been recognized by Best Lawyers Canada for labour and employment law since 2006 and education law since 2014.
