Insurance LawHugues Duguay specializes in insurance litigation, with a practice focused on coverage analysis, civil liability, product liability and professional liability. He appears regularly before all levels of Quebec courts and has extensive experience in alternative dispute resolution, including the interpretation of CGL, E&O, D&O and builders-risk/wrap-up insurance policies. He led the defence of a concrete manufacturer in the Trois-Rivières pyrrhotite case, one of the largest civil trials in Quebec history, and has been recognized by The Best Lawyers in insurance law since 2021 and as a Benchmark Litigation Star since 2019. Before being sworn in as a lawyer, he worked as a law clerk for the Honourable Justice Donna McGillis of the Federal Court, Trial Division in Ottawa. He has served on the Quebec Bar's Disciplinary Council since 2016 and sat on the Montreal Bar's liaison committee with the Superior Court from 2017 to 2020. He holds an LL.L. in civil law from the Université d'Ottawa (cum laude, 1993) and an LL.M. from New York University School of Law (1995).
