About Hongqian

Hongqian (Kathy) Zhang is the principal lawyer at Jade Sunrise Law, a firm she founded in 2016. She earned her LL.B. from Jilin University in 1999, a Master of Common Law from the University of Hong Kong in 2004, and an LL.M. from Dalhousie University in 2011, and obtained her Certificate of Qualification for Canada in 2014. Before moving to Canada, Kathy served as a judge at the Shenzhen Intermediate People's Court, adjudicating commercial and civil disputes. Her practice covers family law, corporate affairs, business transactions, commercial litigation, real estate financing, and estate planning, and she regularly advises Chinese and international companies on cross-border transactions. Kathy is a member of the Law Society of Alberta, the Canadian Bar Association, the Association of Women Lawyers, and the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers - Western Chapter. She is a native Mandarin speaker.
