About Hanaa

Hanaa Al Sharief is an immigration lawyer in the firm's Halifax office who also practices trusts and estates law and estate administration. She is bilingual in Arabic and English with a background in cross-cultural communications, and has more than 15 years of experience working in Canada and internationally. Hanaa assists individuals and corporate clients with estate planning, probate and administration of estates and trusts, and her own bio describes her as the first lawyer in Atlantic Canada to offer sharia compliant estate planning to Muslim clients. Her immigration practice covers personal and business immigration matters, including residence applications, transfer and recruitment of foreign workers, and compliance reviews. She holds an LL.M. from Berkeley Law at the University of California and an LL.B. from the Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University, and was called to the Nova Scotia bar in 2009. She founded the Atlantic Canada chapter of the Canadian Muslim Lawyers Association and has served on several other professional and community boards.
