Greg Harney is senior counsel at Shields Harney, specializing in business litigation with an emphasis on franchise disputes, commercial landlord/tenant matters, shareholder and partnership disputes, regulatory and disciplinary matters, employment, and construction and development disputes. He was called to the bar in 1983 and became a partner at a large Vancouver firm before leaving in 1998 to co-found Shields Harney. Harney has appeared before all levels of court in British Columbia, the Trade-Mark Opposition Board, the Federal Court and Federal Court of Appeal, and the Supreme Court of Canada, and advises clients across Canada and the United States. He is both an experienced mediator and a certified arbitrator under domestic and international rules. His notable cases include representing Boston Pizza in a decade-long dispute that kept Boston Chicken and Boston Market out of the Canadian market, and obtaining a $5.59-million judgment in a failed luxury hotel sale case.
