About Gil Fischler

Gil Fischler acts only for employees, taking on the disputes workers run into with an employer: dismissal claims and restrictive covenants, unpaid pay, and human rights issues. When a case needs to go further, Fischler's litigation experience runs from Small Claims Court through the Ontario Superior Court to the Ontario Court of Appeal, and it takes in the Ontario Labour Relations Board and the Human Rights Tribunal as well.

Fischler describes being keenly aware of how vulnerable employees are to their employers, and of the psychological and emotional strain that comes with that relationship. Fischler aims to give practical, empathetic advice. Clients come to the practice from across Ontario.

Fischler was a partner at Shillers LLP in downtown Toronto before helping co-found Unified LLP. Today Fischler is a partner there and heads its Employment Law and Labour Group. On the writing side, Fischler's Mondaq articles from 2025 cover long-term disability claims, workplace harassment and disability discrimination in hiring.

There's an international thread in Fischler's own schooling, too: a program at Florida State University's campus in Florence, Italy, and later a year at Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam, alongside a statistics degree from Western and a law degree from Osgoode Hall.
