About Geneviève
Geneviève Gagnon became a partner with Julie Chenette in June 2008. Gagnon spent seven years in the litigation and professional liability group at McCarthy Tétrault as a partner, and served as legal counsel to the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec before joining the firm. Gagnon practises in disciplinary and administrative law, professional liability and media law, with particular expertise representing health professionals before disciplinary councils, administrative tribunals and superior courts. Gagnon also represents press organizations in matters involving access to court records and publicity of proceedings, served as counsel to CBC/Radio-Canada at the Commission of Inquiry on the Awarding and Management of Public Contracts in the Construction Industry (Charbonneau Commission), represents journalists in defamation disputes and source-protection cases, and represents universities in student proceedings. Gagnon completed a law degree at Université de Montréal in 1998 and was admitted to the Barreau du Québec in 1999.
