About Julie

Julie Chenette founded Chenette, Litigation Boutique in 2006 after nearly 20 years as a lawyer and then partner in the litigation, class actions and professional liability group at McCarthy Tétrault in Montreal. She regularly appears before civil courts, administrative tribunals, the Tribunal des professions and disciplinary councils of Quebec's professional orders in complex, multi-party matters, and has represented media organizations defending against defamation claims. Her practice also includes assisting professionals facing disciplinary investigations and advising executives on personal legal matters such as terminations. She has lectured on professional liability and legal ethics and taught procedure and civil liability at the École du Barreau du Québec. In 2024 she received the Société des plaideurs' Excellence in Mentorship award. Chenette holds a law degree from Université de Montréal (1986) and was called to the Quebec bar in 1987.
