About Gaston

Gaston Nadeau earned a law degree from the Université de Montréal in 1964, completed further training at McGill University, and was admitted to the bar in 1965. He began working in labour relations in 1963 at the firm that became Trudel Nadeau, and spent his career as counsel to unions and their members, representing major Canadian, Quebec and international unions including the FTQ, CTC, CUPE, CUPW, and the former CAW (now Unifor), among others, across health, education, broadcasting and industrial sectors, as well as police and firefighter unions such as the Fraternité des policiers et policières de Montréal. He argued before labour tribunals and the courts, including the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court, and advised on collective bargaining and legislative reform. Nadeau taught at the Barreau du Québec's professional training centre, served as secretary and later president of the Canadian Bar Association's labour-relations section, and was a founder and later president, from 1994 to 1996, of the Canadian Association of Labour Lawyers. Since retiring in April 2026, he continues to work as a labour-relations advisor.
