About Funda
Funda Mutlay is a criminal defence lawyer with Strategic Criminal Defence, practicing out of Calgary. Funda earned a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from Mount Royal University before travelling to the UK to complete a law degree at the University of Southampton, focusing there on justice studies, international law, and human rights. Before entering law, Funda spent five years as a youth worker in court-ordered facilities serving young people dealing with suicidal tendencies, exploitation, and addiction. Funda articled at Legal Aid Alberta and was admitted to the Alberta Bar in 2024, gaining experience with cases involving homicide, drug offences, sexual assault, and driving charges. Funda now represents clients in matters including domestic violence, aggravated assault, break and enter, fraud, and weapons offences.
