About Frances
Frances Mahon is a Principal at Pender Litigation. Much of Frances's work involves defending clients against serious allegations across a range of settings, such as complex criminal trials and appeals, police investigations, proceedings before the Immigration and Refugee Board, professional discipline matters, and extradition hearings; Frances has also appeared often at the Supreme Court of Canada. Frances earned a Juris Doctor from Osgoode Hall Law School in 2013; while there, Frances worked on Bedford v. Canada, a landmark case addressing the safety and security of sex workers. Prior to founding their own firm, Frances worked in the criminal and constitutional law groups at litigation boutiques located in Toronto and Vancouver. Frances belongs to the Law Society of British Columbia and previously chaired the Canadian Bar Association's National SOGIC Section; in 2016 Frances received the Emerging Leader Award from Out On Bay Street. As a member of the 2SLGBTQ+ community, Frances has played a leading role in legal and policy initiatives that benefit LGBTQ2S+ people both in Canada and internationally. Frances has paused accepting general immigration and refugee matters, with exceptions made only in limited situations.
