Faisal Nasim helps businesses get started, change hands and keep their corporate affairs in order. As a partner in Cohen Highley's Corporate/Commercial and Business Law group, Faisal handles incorporations, share and asset deals, franchising, tax planning for corporations and succession work. The clients run from not-for-profits and privately held companies to larger businesses and municipal and quasi-governmental bodies, both in Canada and abroad.

That practice rests on more than 20 years of deal structuring, risk management and compliance work. Faisal studied law in the UK, earning an LLB from the University of London and then an LLM and the Bar Vocational Course at Cardiff University, and qualified as a barrister there. Faisal is also an advocate of the High Courts in Pakistan. A Certificate of Qualification from the National Committee on Accreditation followed in 2019, and Ontario licensed Faisal as a barrister, solicitor and notary public in 2020.

Companies from outside Canada that want to open operations here are a regular part of the work, and Faisal has served as Canadian local counsel for international law firms and their clients on corporate and commercial matters. Faisal speaks Urdu and Hindi fluently. On the planning side, Faisal routinely works alongside clients' accountants to capture the tax savings of incorporating, and with their financial planners when succession documents are drawn up.

Outside work, Faisal likes travelling the world with family, reading self-help books and trying out new dishes in the kitchen.
