Erica Olmstead practises immigration, refugee and criminal law, with extensive experience resolving complex inadmissibility cases for people facing legal hurdles in getting or keeping their immigration status in Canada. Olmstead advises immigrants and refugees at all stages of the application process, on appeal and on judicial review, and also assists people facing criminal charges with an immigration nexus or a Charter, social justice or rights-based issue. Olmstead is an Adjunct Professor at the University of British Columbia's Allard School of Law, teaching Appellate Advocacy, and works as a case review lawyer with the Appeals Department at Legal Aid BC. Olmstead has argued numerous cases at the Supreme Court of Canada, the Federal Court of Appeal and the BC Court of Appeal, including Mason v. Canada (Citizenship and Immigration), 2022 SCC 21.
