About Emmaline
Emmaline English practices Aboriginal rights litigation, governance, and lands work, and has assisted non-profits and First Nations on environmental conservation and sustainability, with practice areas including Aboriginal and treaty rights, First Nation constitutions, governance support, Indigenous legal orders, specific claims, and wills and estates. She has appeared before the Quebec Court of Appeal, articled jointly with Woodward & Company and the Environmental Law Centre at the University of Victoria, and previously worked for the federal government in Crown-Indigenous Relations. She holds a Bachelor of Social Sciences from the University of Ottawa (2014, summa cum laude), a Master of Arts from Dalhousie University, and JD/JID degrees in common law and Indigenous legal orders from the University of Victoria (2023) with a concentration in environmental law and sustainability. A settler of mixed British, Irish, and Ashkenazi Jewish descent who grew up on Six Nations traditional territory, she received the Law Society of British Columbia Gold Medal and the Law Foundation of BC Public Interest Award (2023), and was called to the Law Society of British Columbia in 2024.
