About Emily
Emily Young is a partner whose litigation practice spans civil, commercial, regulatory and constitutional matters, and she has appeared at every level of court in Ontario as well as at the Supreme Court of Canada. In 2022 she was appointed Commission Counsel to the public inquiry examining Ottawa's Light Rail Transit system. Before becoming an associate, she summered at the firm and completed her articling term at the Court of Appeal for Ontario, where she clerked for three judges including Associate Chief Justice J. Michal Fairburn, and she then clerked for Justice Andromache Karakatsanis at the Supreme Court of Canada. Emily earned her JD with honours from the University of Toronto, achieving distinction standing throughout, and holds an honours BA from Queen's University, where she won the gold medal in philosophy. In law school she worked as a caseworker with Advocates for Injured Workers and as a researcher with the Industrial Accident Victims Group of Ontario, competed in national moots, and spent a semester at the University of Amsterdam. She was called to the Ontario bar in 2019 and is fluent in French.
