About Emily La Mantia

Emily La Mantia advises and represents employers on labour, employment and human rights issues as a partner at Filion Wakely Thorup Angeletti in Toronto. Day to day, that means arguing grievances at arbitration, litigating wrongful dismissal claims and taking on complicated human rights files, along with helping employers work through accommodation issues in the workplace.

Emily went to law school at Osgoode Hall and was called to the Ontario bar in 2019. The courtroom and hearing room are a regular part of the job: Emily appears for clients before the Superior Court of Justice, the Labour Relations Board and the Human Rights Tribunal, among other Ontario courts and tribunals.

There's a teaching side too. Emily puts that accommodation and human rights experience to work running training sessions for workplaces on harassment, violence and accommodation, and is part of the teaching team for Osgoode's Lawyer as Negotiator course. Emily is also on the faculty of an OsgoodePD one-day conference on the duty to accommodate, leading its session on family status accommodation.

For employers who'd like a sense of Emily's thinking before they call, there's plenty in print. Emily co-wrote the 2024 edition of the Ontario Human Rights Code: Quick Reference and appears among the authors of its 2026 edition, and has written Filion Insight articles on termination clauses, vaccination policies and accessibility deadlines.
