About David
David Spears focuses his practice on mediating and investigating employment, workplace and sports disputes. He has advised both employers and employees on workplace issues including employment litigation, employment standards complaints, human rights proceedings and occupational health and safety, and has helped employers develop workplace contracts and policies. As a former Olympic athlete, he has also represented parties in sports disputes, and has appeared before arbitration boards, federal and provincial labour boards, human rights tribunals and courts. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Waterloo in 1995 and his law degree from the University of Windsor in 1998. In 2022 he completed Employment Law Mediator Training at Cornell University's Scheinman Institute on Conflict Resolution, and he is a certified Professional Mediator available through David Spears Mediation.
