About Dany

Dany H. Assaf is a partner who co-chairs the firm's Competition and Foreign Investment Review Practice and has worked on many of Canada's most prominent competition and foreign investment matters, including national security reviews under the Investment Canada Act. His files have included the DuPont-Dow merger, the Tervita efficiencies case before the Supreme Court of Canada, the Interac matter involving Canada's bank payments system, and the GE-Honeywell and Rio Tinto-Alcan deals. Before joining Torys, he was a competition law partner at another firm, where he also ran its Middle East offices, and he has taught as an adjunct professor at the University of Western Ontario. He co-authored the fifth edition of Competition and Antitrust Law: Canada and The United States, and he sits on the boards of the Conference Board of Canada, Canada's Sport Hall of Fame, Unity Health and The Toronto Club.
