About Courtney
Courtney Taylor Hamara is a partner at Sullivan Festeryga LLP who articled with the firm, joined as an associate in 2015, and became a partner in 2026. Her practice is split between insurance defence litigation and criminal defence, and she has appeared before the Ontario Review Board, the Superior Court of Justice, and the Ontario Court of Justice. Courtney graduated summa cum laude from McMaster University, earning a B.A. Honours in Philosophy and Religious Studies followed by an M.A. in Philosophy with a specialization in the philosophy of law. She holds an LL.B. and a B.C.L. from McGill University in Montreal, where she also worked as a research assistant for the law faculty and assisted with teaching in the philosophy department. She now serves as Vice President of the Hamilton Lawyers' Club, a board she has sat on since 2020, and belongs to the Hamilton Law Association, the Hamilton Criminal Lawyers' Association, the Criminal Lawyers' Association, and Canadian Defence Lawyers.
