About Gerard

Gerard P. Murphy was called to the bar in 1978 and spent the next 42 years as mainly a sole practitioner handling corporate, estate and real property matters, before joining Sullivan Festeryga as general counsel in 2021. He earned his LLB from the University of Ottawa in 1976 and a business administration degree from the University of Western Ontario's Ivey School of Business. Gerry has taught Bar Admission courses covering corporate law, taxation, and estate planning and administration between 1990 and 2004, and taught the law clerk course at Mohawk College from 1978 to 1988. He continues to mentor colleagues and lawyers new to the profession, and has long volunteered with organizations in Hamilton and Burlington including Choices Foundation, Joseph Brant Hospital Foundation and the Burlington Food Bank.
